Multi-temporal mapping of the vegetation fraction in early-season wheat fields using images from UAV [Student]
Paper Introduction
An UAV equipped with a commercial camera (visible spectrum) was used to obtain ultra-high resolution image on a wheat field during the early period. From these images, six visible spectral indices CIVE, ExG, ExGR, Woebbecke Index, NGRDI, VEG and two combinations of these indices for mapping the vegetation fraction were evaluated and evaluated to study the effect of flight height and days after sowing. These indicators were also spatial and time consistent, allowing accurate mapping of vegetation throughout the wheat field at any given date. This demonstrates that visible spectral indexes derived from images obtained by using a low-cost camera on board a UAV flying at low altitudes are an appropriate tool for distinguishing vegetation in wheat fields at the beginning of the season. This opens the doors for exploiting this technology in agrarian precision applications such as timely early grass weed management, in which accurate vegetation fraction mapping is needed to classify plant weeds.[1]
